Users and Roles

Users

A user represents a single person who uses Merchstack. In our API, we refer to users as administrators. A new administrator can be created via the API, but you will typically work with your CSM to create and manage your user accounts at the moment.

Roles

A user gets their ability to see and do things through roles. Roles represent a group of permissions. Roles are specific to your organization, and you can work with your CSM to define granular roles for your users.

In Merchstack, roles allow you to control access and define the level of permissions for different user groups within your organization. By assigning roles to users, you can manage what actions they can perform and what information they can access. For example, you can have roles like "Store Manager," "Operator," or "SEO," each with different sets of permissions.

Your CSM will work with you to help you determine the appropriate roles for different user types in your organization, ensuring the right level of access and control for your teams.

Permissions

Permissions grant users the ability to take specific actions, like updating a category or creating a new product.

Permissions are not assigned directly to users, but instead to roles. By assigning permissions to roles, you can easily manage access control across your tenant. This allows you to define the actions users can perform based on their assigned roles.

Please refer to the documentation or consult with your CSM for the specific permissions available and how they can be configured for your organization's needs.
